The 6th International “New Energy Battery and Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Industry Conference”, held March 20-21, brought together R&D and engineering leaders from nearly 400 automakers and battery manufacturers. Battery cell formation and testing, which involves multiple charge-discharge cycles to ensure optimal performance and lifespan, remains a critical step in the production process. Here, Comau’s proprietary cell formation offer encompasses the core processes that transform assembled cells into stable, electrically charged batteries.
Active at a worldwide level, Comau’s global footprint allows the company to support customers in their industrialization journey by providing flexible, tailored cell formation and testing solutions for scales ranging from laboratory to Giga scale fabrication. Indeed, the company is collaborating with KI.SI. National Institute of Chemistry to develop and industrialize flexible machines for advanced cell formation and testing at varying working temperatures. The first-of-its-kind installation ensures precise temperature control, optimal current levels, and secure handling during the entire process, enhancing both safety and efficiency.
For module and pack assembly, Comau delivers end-to-end automated production lines, covering cell handling through to final assembly. The company’s flexible technology adapts to various battery formats and seamlessly integrates into diverse production environments. It also brings extensive expertise in battery tray processing and assembly, with successful deployments across global EV projects, including at the Automotive Cells Company (ACC) Gigafactory in Billy-Berclau Douvrain, in Northern France.
