Shanghai, Feb 13, 2023 – On February 10, the Volvo Car Asia Pacific Supplier Convention was held in Sanya, Hainan, where Gaetano Cantalupo, Comau Head of Countries Cluster APAC attended the opening ceremony. In addition to sharing with its partners the supply chain development strategy and direction for the next year, Volvo also honored the excellent suppliers of the year. Comau received the “Award for Collaboration” for 2022, which acknowledged the company’s cooperation in the past year and continued collaboration over the long-term.
With 50 years of experience in the automotive industry, Comau is known in the global market for its innovative technology and the high quality of its solutions and services. Since Volvo opened its first plant in China in 2011, Comau has maintained a deep and solid relationship with the company and actively collaborates on Volvo’s development requirements. In addition to the current “Award for Collaboration”, Comau has received numerous partner awards from Volvo Car in the past. (see 2020 and 2021 awards). From the development of new models to the delivery of large-scale production systems, Comau-designed solutions are highly appreciated by the customer team and have effectively supported the launch and production growth of the respective models.
In 2022, during the global chip shortage crisis and the serious pandemic lockdown situation in China, the Comau and Volvo team maintained close communication and made good progress on projects such as the floor line and body side line for various models. In addition to promoting Volvo’s cost optimization and on-time delivery initiatives, Comau continued to support the customer with resource allocation and quality control. Comau has also actively contributed to building a sustainable supply chain.
Throughout the project, Comau delivered timely feedback on issues and demonstrated a high level of commitment from the engineering and logistics management team. Faced with unpredictable changes in the internal and external environment during the past year, Comau ensured the customer’s proper production through quick information transmission, agile response, systematic system, timely and effective identification of change points, and advanced spare parts.
