Comau presents innovative material handling automation solutions at MODEX 2020

Southfield, Michigan – March 9th, 2020

Comau, a member of the FCA Group and global leader in advanced industrial automation products and solutions, will feature its MATE exoskeleton and Agile automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in booth #4089, hosted by our local distributor Pneumatic Automation at MODEX 2020. Taking place March 9-12 in Atlanta, MODEX is dedicated to showcasing key manufacturing and supply chain solutions and trends. Visitors to Comau’s booth will discover the benefits of utilizing ergonomics and autonomous vehicles in their manufacturing and logistics facilities.

“We are excited to participate in MODEX 2020” says Mark Anderson, Comau Head of Robotics and Automation Products North America.  “It’s an excellent opportunity to network and keep our finger on the pulse of new trends. This year we are showcasing our MATE exoskeleton and Agile AGVs.”

MATE exoskeleton has been designed to improve work quality in an efficient and highly ergonomic manner by providing consistent and advanced movement assistance during prolonged overhead, as well as daily tasks. MATE is fully able to replicate any movement of the shoulder while adhering to the body like a “second skin”. Developed in conjunction with IUVO and ÖSSUR, MATE is the first available product of a series of wearable technologies being commercialized by Comau.

Comau’s Agile AGVs fully express its open automation design approach. Modular, scalable and completely re-configurable, the AGVs feature best in class payload to size ratio. Due to these characteristics, they can significantly facilitate core operations including just-in-time and just-in-sequence production, as well as optimized logistic flows inside the factory, improved warehouse management, and better overall production efficiency. The AGVs play a key role in the development of a new operating platform imposed by Industry 4.0. Comau AGVs can increase overall plant safety thanks to advanced security features, including an integrated laser scanner that stops them upon detection of an obstacle along their routes.
