Organized by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Jiading District People’s Government, and the local Promotion Center, the 4th Yangtze River Delta Intelligent Manufacturing Summit took place in Shanghai from April 9-10 bringing together over 800 stakeholders from government, industry, and academia to explore the role of intelligent manufacturing in driving industrial collaboration and innovation.
Comau participated in the summit and presented its latest innovations in electric drive system production during the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Intelligent Manufacturing session. As the demand for electric drive systems in the NEV market intensifies, manufacturers are seeking solutions that offer higher quality, efficiency, and flexibility. Sun Wei, Product Manager for Comau E-drive solutions, emphasized the company’s advanced automation solutions for electric drive system (EDS) assembly and stator, rotor production. These solutions optimize production processes, enhance stability, and improve line flexibility to meet diverse customer needs.
Sun Wei also emphasized how, as automakers raise expectations for electric drive performance and production efficiency, automation has become a critical differentiator in achieving competitive advantage. Leveraging Comau’s deep technical expertise, the company delivers integrated E-drive production solutions that help customers achieve efficient, stable, and sustainable manufacturing.
One of the standout solutions at the summit was Comau’s Hairpin Stator Assembly Line, which offers high performance and flexible solutions for end-to-end manufacturing needs. Its scalable design allows seamless transitions from semi-automated to fully automated processes, catering to various production requirements. By optimizing floor space, implementing lean practices, and enabling real-time process monitoring, Comau addresses both current and future production challenges, improving product quality while reducing operational and energy costs.
The modular design of the line further enhances efficiency by minimizing equipment footprint and energy consumption, while boosting production speed and capacity. The line’s flexibility enables multi-product manufacturing, providing a comprehensive turnkey solution.
Comau continues to advance its NEV manufacturing solutions to keep pace with market evolution. The company has delivered turnkey e-drive systems for industry leaders, including NIO and Geely’s Vremt.
For NIO, Comau’s automation solutions have streamlined the production of next-generation e-drive systems, while in the Geely Vremt project, automated assembly lines for motors, gearboxes, and inverters have significantly increased automation rates and productivity. These projects highlight Comau’s commitment to advancing electric vehicle technology and supporting the industry’s evolving demands.
As manufacturing continues to evolve, Comau remains focused on integrating digitalization and sustainability into its solutions. By leveraging technologies like Industrial IoT, digital twins, and AI, the company is shaping the future of automated manufacturing, creating value for its customers and partners alike.
