Comau showcased its advanced automation solutions at the 11th Advanced Automotive Manufacturing Technology Summit

Shanghai, March 24, 2025

The 11th Advanced Automotive Manufacturing Technology Summit, held in Beijing from March 19 to 21, brought together leading OEMs and more than 1,000 industry experts to explore the latest advancements in automotive manufacturing. Key discussions centered on body welding, stamping and giga casting, painting, final assembly, and digital factory solutions, with a strong focus on how intelligent manufacturing is driving industrial transformation.

Recognized for its expertise in body-in-white automation, Comau was invited to share insights at the main forum. Steve Zhu, Comau Head of Sales Account Body Assembly APAC, addressed the increasing need for flexible production, cost optimization, and efficiency as automakers adapt to the rise of new energy vehicles (NEVs), platform-based vehicle development, and growing demand for customization. He outlined how Comau’s advanced automation technologies enable manufacturers to optimize capacity utilization and manage multi-model production with greater agility.

Comau is also accelerating the integration of digitalization and automation, applying digital twin technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and big data analytics to support smart decision-making, remote monitoring, and enhanced operational efficiency. In alignment with China’s carbon neutrality targets, the company is driving sustainable manufacturing initiatives to help automakers build energy-efficient, low-emission production environments.

At the summit’s body welding sub-forum, Luo Xianbing, Comau China Body Assembly Mechanical Engineering Manager, presented on Comau’s latest advancements in welding automation. As vehicle electrification accelerates, welding processes must evolve to accommodate lightweight materials, high-strength structures, and modular assembly techniques. With extensive expertise in both car body and powertrain systems manufacturing, Comau continues to develop solutions that align with the industry’s rapid technological shifts.

Among its latest innovations, Comau introduced a high-speed conveyor for body-side assembly, designed to maximize production efficiency and precision. Utilizing servo motors, rack and pinion mechanisms, and magnetic drive technology, the system is engineered for both welding and final assembly applications, achieving a cycle rate of up to 153 jobs per hour (JPH) with an annual capacity exceeding one million units. This development reinforces Comau’s focus on delivering automation solutions that enhance consistency, reliability, and long-term manufacturing performance.

By participating in this event, Comau confirms its commitment to innovation, advancing intelligent manufacturing technologies in collaboration with industry leaders and driving automation to shape the next era of automotive production.
