Bordeaux (France) – 14 November, 2023 – Reconfirming once again its commitment to supporting customers’ needs, as well as the EU’s goal of producing e-Mobility enablers, in an increasingly efficient way with advanced automation solutions, Comau is participating in Battery Innovation Days, an important industry event held 14-15 November 2023 in Bordeaux (France). During the 2-day event, companies, institutions and government agencies will gather to discuss their respective knowledge and technology achievements with the aim of creating a competitive and sustainable European industrial value-chain for e-mobility and stationary applications.
In addition to meeting the Comau team at stand number 12, visitors can join an industry round table featuring Daniela Fontana, who is responsible for Comau’s Funded Projects Management within the E-Mobility Global Competence Center. The roundtable, titled Towards more sustainable battery: challenges and innovation will take place on November 15 at 11am as part of the panel, Sustainable Batteries as an integral step in reducing products’ carbon footprints. Daniela will talk about sustainability in battery production from a plant perspective, which includes reducing energy consumption in plants, as well as automatic battery disassembly, during which she will present the results of Comau’s Flex-BD (Flexible Battery Dismantling) project.
Comau will also present its offering in the field of e-mobility, including turnkey automation solutions covering the entire electric mobility manufacturing process: from battery cell formation and assembly systems to battery dismantling solutions, and from battery frames, modules, packs and cell-to-pack assembly systems, e-drive components and final assembly systems to hydrogen fuel cell assembly systems. In many cases, such as the case of cell formation, Comau innovation can be further seen in energy and space savings, with an up to 20 percent reduction in both energy consumption and footprint requirements.
The key driver of Comau’s offering is its consultative approach to supporting battery cell manufacturing companies. Indeed, Comau’s intent is to support its customers in developing battery cell manufacturing technologies, exploiting the potential of radically new materials, automation concepts, smart functionalities and cell designs, starting from the electrode preparation to pass to the cell assembly and finally to the cell formation.
To accomplish all this, Comau is leveraging both its 50 years of experience and its collaboration with key stakeholders in innovation. Several important funded projects, such as SPINMATE, FASTEST and GIGABAT, are proof of this. Comau also collaborates with leading European universities and industrial customers, supporting their process development and helping companies move from lab trials to pilot lines, and all the way up to Gigafactories.
