- Up to 3 members per team – deadline for entries is November 5, 2020
- Hackathon winners will receive a special reward from Comau and have a chance to compete globally for the top prize offered by EIT
- Participants will be tasked with improving the learning experience through robotics using e.DO Cube, a small box used to program and run a virtual e.DO robot
Grugliasco (Turin), October 29 – Comau will host the local edition of DigiEduHack 2020, an innovative online hackathon focused on improving the learning experience through robotics. Part of a global event organized by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), the 2-day hackathon, held November 12-13, 2020, targets university students, educators, and technologists interested in educational sciences, programming, information technology and engineering. The teams of up to 3 people will compete locally on their choice of two challenges: developing an innovative educational solution, or designing a high-impact add-on for Comau’s e.DO educational robot.
The Turin-based Improving the learning experience through Robotics DigiEduHack challenge allows participants to connect with educational professionals, innovators and entrepreneurs as they help co-create the future of education. In addition to having full access to support materials for the e.DO Cube educational tool, including sample training activities and technical documentation, teams can freely interact with experts and mentors for support in finding powerful solutions during the 36-hour contest. From a technical standpoint, engineers, computer scientists and programmers will be able to focus on both the software development for e.DO Cube as well as the creation of physical add-ons for the e.DO robot. By the end of the hackathon, each team will submit a written proposal summarizing their idea as well as a 3-minute video to share the proposed solution.
Two winning teams, one per objective, will be selected by the jury made up of Comau managers and external experts. Each team member will receive a special reward by Comau. In addition, the jury will select the team with the best overall proposal to compete globally with the other winners of the DigiEduHack 2020 event for a chance to win a final prize of €5,000 offered by EIT.
Registration is open now through November 5, 2020. Teams can join the challenge by clicking on the link, or visiting the DigiEduHack website and registering for the Improving the learning experience through Robotics challenge.
About e.DO
e.DO is a modular and fully open-source robotic platform that makes learning, creating, exploring and programming fun and more interactive. Featuring six degrees of freedom and a maximum payload of 1kg, the e.DO articulated robot is flexible enough to be used in the classroom and powerful enough to satisfy virtually any robot enthusiast. To support the e.DO robot, or as a stand-alone educational tool, e.DO Cube is a compact programming box that allows students to program a virtual e.DO robot using the same Raspberry programming language as found in the e.DO robot.
