​The Specializing Master in Industrial Automation from the Politecnico di Torino is organized by Comau and financed by Regione Piemonte.
The field of Industrial Automation is a market in continuous expansion, where companies have to face increasingly demanding challenges on a global level: professional figures with higher and more specific technical skills are required.
The Specializing Master in Industrial Automation wants to invest in the future of young, talented, newly graduated people, giving them the opportunity to mature and solidify their skills with fieldwork, and providing the immediate hiring through a High Apprenticeship contract. Since 2012, the Master in Industrial Automation has permitted more than 90 students from the program to be hired by Comau with open-ended contracts. Lectures are given by the best managers of Comau and by professors of Politecnico di Torino.

 

 

The aim of the Master is to introduce within Comau young talented engineers with a top level preparation, both technical and managerial, for the particular needs of the market field.
 

Hiring

Comau will offer selected students a job opportunity, hiring them at the beginning of the Master Course (January, 2017) through a HIGH APPRENTICESHIP CONTRACT (Ex.Art. 45 D.Lgs. 81/2015).​​​

The positions are in the fields of Innovation & Smart Production, Project Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Quality and Manufacturing. 
 

Candidates will be assessed in two steps during one day.

During the first step, following a presentation of Comau Group and this particular selection path, candidates will be required to take various tests.

The second step is the assessment test which consists of discussing two case studies in a group.

Through these activities, we will determine whether the graduates possess certain key qualities that Comau believes are important for its management, for instance:

  • teamwork;
  • the ability of analyzing and resolving complex situations;
  • initiative and autonomy;
  • open mindedness towards change;

Between 6 to 8 candidates will attend each session, which will be conducted by Comau assessors.
At the end of the day, each graduate will have an individual meeting with an assessor to review the day’s activities and to further boost personal and professional motivation.

Comau will select the candidates with a pre-screening of the CVs and reserves the right to contact only the students who will fulfill the internal selection criteria. 
 

The Master Course is highly oriented to experiential learning through a combined training method (classroom – laboratory – lecture - business cases) provided by University Professors of the Politecnico di Torino and Comau managers.

The architecture of the first year of the Master is divided in 4 main modules:  

  • 1Inductions
  • 2Customer Products
  • 3Methods Technological Process and Architectures,
  • 4Line Builder Product Development.

The core of the Course will be the project work (develop the 2nd year), which relates to the curriculum and is performed in one of the Comau Business Units, during the working time in the Company.
The project work will be an integral part of the final Master Thesis. Participants will be supported in developing the project work by the business Tutors, the Academic Tutors as well as business experts.
The program, supported by practical exercises, includes lectures and presentations by experts from Comau and practical laboratories.
 

Requirements:

  • Graduate MSC or to be graduate before the start of the Master (Jan 2017) in the following areas: Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Eng., Automation Eng., Computer Eng., Electric, Electronics, Nuclear Energy Eng., Management Eng., Mechanics Eng., Naval Eng., Logistic Eng., Mechatronic Eng. Comau reserves the right to take into consideration other Engineering degrees out not included on this list.
    Candidates must have a maximum age of 29 at the start of the master (Jan 2017) Based on the number of applications received and in according to the number of places available, the Scientific Committee may evaluate the admission of candidates with a degree in a different study area, based on the possession of specific work experience or training assessed during the selection. A maximum number of 15 participants is foreseen. The Master Course will be activated provided there are at least 10 students.

Candidates with a foreign citizenship can apply, however:

  • If belonging to the EU they need to have the requisites of a University Master degree title in the field on Engineering, valid in Italy
  • If EXTRA-EU they must have obtained the degree title in an Italian University and have a study VISA that is still valid at the beginning of the Master Course (January 2017).
     

Cost
Politecnico di Torino is going to present a funding request in the framework of the regional call for proposals aimed at funding training options for apprenticeships (Bando Regionale “Apprendistato di Alta Formazione e di Ricerca 2016-2018 (Art.45 – D.Lgs. n. 81/2015)” – Determinazione n. 537 del 03/08/2016). The Master course is free of charge for the selected students. The Master program will be realized only if the funding request is accepted.


Certification
The Master Thesis dissertation concludes the Course and finally leads to the award of the Master Degree (Master of II level in "Industrial Automation”) issued by the Politecnico di Torino, and recognized by law (Ministerial Decree number 270/2004). In order to get the Master Degree the participants must attend at least 2/3 of the lectures hours (certificated by signature), to pass all foreseen examinations and to successfully conclude the project work and Thesis activities. To be entitled to obtain the University Master Degree, Italian students must comply to the Italian requirements stated by the law (simultaneous enrolment in other universities courses, doctorates, etc… is not admitted).

The Master Thesis dissertation concludes the Course and finally leads to the award of the Master Degree (Master of II level in "Industrial Automation”) issued by the Politecnico di Torino, and recognized by law (D.M. 270/2004). 

In order to get the Master Degree the participants must attend at least to 2/3 of the lectures hours (certificated by signature), to pass all foreseen examinations and to successfully conclude the project work and Thesis activities.
